A few things to consider when choosing your location for your session...

1. What does your family like to do for fun? How do you all like to spend your time?

Make sure you're choosing a location that will best suit your families personality. For example, do the kids need a place to run freely or can celebrate the end of the session playing in the river? Or do you prefer the tidiness and colors of an urban setting?

2. Consider the ages of your kiddos and activity level. I want your session to be fun and as relaxed as possible! (Without worries of hazards, like cars, for younger ones.)

3. San Antonio locations change with the season creating a completely different backdrop depending on the time of year. I will scout out the location before your session.

4. Let's talk about traffic. San Antonio has good days/times for traffic and not so good days/times. Make sure to choose a location that will be easy to get to at your scheduled session time.

5. If you don't see a venue you're interested in on the list? Let me know! I would be happy to check it out.

Wardrobe Planning

#1 tip

Most important...be yourself!

Lifestyle photography is meant to be authentic. What is your style? What makes you and your family shine? It's important to me that everyone feels comfortable and amazing!

#2 tip

Coordinate, don't match!

Choosing your color palette, is the best place to start. This is a wonderful way for everyone to have their own style while still complimenting one another. Light neutrals and jewel tones are always classic.

#3 tip

What to stay away from:

-Graphics can distract be distracting.

-Bright Neon colors could bounce causing skin tones to be skewed.

You're not alone!

I'm here to help. Please reach out with any questions and/or add me to your Pinterest board!

Resources to consider:

* Pinterest is a great place to find inspiration. Click Here for a link to my Pinterest board. Feel free tag me in your inspiration board!

*Style & Select is another wonderful resource I recently stumbled on. This site helps you coordinate outfits and they link their site to retailers you can order from or with their inspiration, you can use what you have at home! https://styleandselect.com

(I have not subscribed to this site but am impressed with what I have seen.)

Let your kiddos be themselves

Children

I am not expecting for your kids to be "perfect," with a forced smile staring straight at the camera. I wouldn't expect this of own child! It may take a moment for your kids to warm up in front of the camera...and that is absolutely ok! Big emotions and lots of energy?...I'm all for it! Let them play and explore the world around them, all the while capturing these authentic moments.

So bring your kiddos the way they are, and let’s create art!

Final notes before your session...

Time: Sessions are typically planned for morning or evenings because mid-day lighting can be too harsh. For evening sessions one to two hours before sunset provides gorgeous light and atmosphere. If you and your family love mornings, sunrise sessions are beautiful! But lighting is soft and gorgeous in the morning for one to two hours after sunrise as well.

Remember to hydrate & eat a comfortable meal beforehand: We can take breaks for snacks and play, however I will probably still shoot during the breaks. Bring dry, non messy snacks so their little faces stay clean during the session.

Please arrive on time or be ready to start on time: Remember, your session is scheduled according to light. It is important that we start on time. Please plan for traffic or parking constraints. It's best to arrive early.

I can't wait to capture your family! Do not hesitate to ask me any questions you have. See you soon!
